To mark 60 years since the Queen was coronated, Dawn Barren from Barren Bou has organised a special 1950s event in Gainsborough town centre on Saturday 1st June G130503-3a

The event will take over Gainsborough Market Place on Saturday 1st June from 11am to 3pm.

Organised by local traders, the aim is to bring the town together, boost trade, and have some good old fashioned fun.

The day promises to have something on for everyone. In addition to the traditional market there will be a display of vintage cars and motorcycles and a children’s fairground ride.

A town cryer will make sure everyone knows what’s going on, while music will be provided courtesy of a piper, school choir, street buskers and 50s dance music.

For a really retro feel there will be a 50s ice cream vendor, Punch and Judy Show, clown and a fortune teller.

And there are prizes on offer on the day for the best couple doing the jive and for best 50s style dressed child and best dressed adult.
