Centenary year celebrations

The event, held outside on the hospital’s grounds on 14th July, was opened with a children’s fancy dress parade led by Thoresby Colliery Brass Band and Louise Clarkson School of Dance.

More than 40 stalls and activities had children and adults captivated with falconry displays, a vintage steam engine and tractors, circus skills, sports activities and a variety of fairground attractions to enjoy.

Nottingham Forest Football Club were very popular with their penalty shoot out and a guest appearance by Sportacus and Stephanie from Lazy Town was one of the highlights for many of the younger children.

The hospital also staged a history exhibition which took a step back in time to relive the life of Rampton Hospital over 100 years of improving patient care.

Executive director of the hospital Mike Harris said: “This has been a wonderful day to celebrate 100 years of improving patient care.”

“It was fantastic to see so many staff, old and new and the local community join us to commemorate this important milestone.”

“Events have been arranged for the patients in the hospital to help them celebrate too, after all that is why we are all here, to improve patient care and move people on in their recovery journey.”

“I look forward to continued improvements at the hospital, to the benefit of our patients, our hard working staff and our local community.”

To date, the amount raised is at £2,000, which will go to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Mr Harris added.
