Right winger Jesse Schultz, who had two games with Vancouver Canucks, arrives from German second division side SC Riessersee, in Bavaria.

The 33 year old Canadian scored 22+23 (45pts) in 52 games there. Schultz had 375 American League games, mainly with Manitoba Moose, including three 20 plus and a 30 plus goal season.

Coach Paul Thompson said: “His stats say it all; he has put up outstanding numbers wherever he has played, in whichever league he has played in. Just two seasons ago he was the third highest scorer in the East Coast league. His experience is vast both in North America and Europe. He is a perfect fit for us and a great addition to the team that we take into the Champions League in August”

Schultz has scored 83 times in the last three seasons (CHL, ECHL and DEL2.)

“He is obviously an offensive talent” continued Thompson. “We have a highly skilled winger who will add a further offensive punch. He is a puck possession player who comes with a great shot. I like the way he fits into the line up along side the variety of talent we have already amassed. We just have the five places (2 forwards and 3 d-men) remaining” said Thompson “we are painstakingly trying to find the right players.”

n Champions Hockey League dates have been set for Steelers’ four round robin fixtures against Swedish side HV71 and Austrians Red Bull Salzburg.
