However, following a number of incidents across the country, including deaths, local authorities are urging caution in the heat.

In recent days Bassetlaw District Council, East Midlands Ambulance Service, Notts Fire and Rescue and others have offered advice on staying safe in the sun.

In addition to staying hydrated, covered up and out of the midday sun, people have also been urged to take extra care of their children and check on elderly family members.

Following a number of deaths from drowning, residents are also being urged not to swim in water not designed for the practice.

A level three heatwave has now been declared after the hottest spell for around seven years.
