The man was hit by a train at the Ivy Lea rail crossing at Scampston near Malton.

John Mann MP commented: “Whatever the circumstances of this most recent fatal incident, it has been clear for some time that the safety of rail crossings needs drastic and urgent improvement.”

“Last week the inquest into the death of 4 year old Emma Lifsey was held, and the Coroner concluded that improvements need to be made much quicker than at present.”

“Emma died on a rail crossing in Bassetlaw, and her family has called for her legacy to be safer crossings. This is a noble response to her tragic death, and needs to be acted on urgently.”
