Aston: Academy celebrates ‘fantastic’ grades

Excellent grades were achieved by A Level students at Aston Academy today (Thursday 15th August 2013).
Weeks of waiting were finally over as students descended on the school hall to find out their grades.

Vice principal Dominic Curran said the school was celebrating a ‘fantastic’ set of results, with a 98 per cent pass rate.

“A particular cause for celebration is the fact that 30 per cent of all A2 examinations gained an A or A* grade,” he said.

“There were many excellent personal performances.”

Notably, Alex Jarvis achieved a phenomenal six A* grades and one A, winning a place at Cambridge University.

Other outstanding successes include:

Jack Rooke who gained one A* and three As, Hannah Leflay with one A* and two As, Hayley Ellis with an A*, two As and a B, Richard Cosgrove with four A grades, and Clare Malone, Steven Colton and Megan Ayres who all achieved three A grades.

Mr Curran added that performance within individual subjects had also been impressive this year, with 28 subjects achieving a 100 per cent pass rate.
