24-hour drill raises funds

worksop Air Cadets took part in a 24-hour drill to raise funds.

The group from Worksop 303 Squadron ATC, aged 13 to 20, were rewarded for their efforts with a £5,000 donation from Notts aircraft engineering company APPH.

Civilian instructor Trish Hunt said: “Some of them haven’t ever stayed up this long, they put in the effort because we are completely self-funded.”

They were supported by staff from Asda’s store on Memorial Avenue who ran a soup kitchen for the whole 24 hours, while Top Town Diners fish and chip shop and Batchelors, Greencore, and Solway all provided food.

She said: “The cadets are very grateful for all the help that they received and for the generous donation from APPH.”

The cadets also raised £1,700 through sponsorship and a further £838 bag packing at Asda.

Trish added: “The people of Worksop have been very generous.”
