Jimmy Cricket to star at Worksop Acorn Theatre

A spot of cricket is coming to Worksop this weekend, but not the game - it will be Irish comedian Jimmy Cricket and his show bursting with giggles for all the family at the Acorn Theatre.

Jimmy Cricket is one of the UK’s most loved comedians, having made a host of television and radio appearances over the past 30 years.

He will bring his ‘Value for a Tenner’ show to Worksop Acorn Theatre this Saturday - where all seats are £10 - and is thrilled his good friend and Worksop-based ventriloquist Andy Greaves will be his special guest on the night.

“It is great to be visiting Worksop and bringing to the Acorn Theatre my credit crunch busting show where tickets are pegged to the really affordable price of a tenner!” he said.

“This is because I know how expensive it is to take a family out anywhere these days.”

He added: “I am also pleased that my good friend the very talented Andy Greaves has come aboard for this show, which means the entire evening will truly be great value for money.”

“With this aim in mind I hope the show will attract the different age groups, from granny to grandchild alike, as I can certainly guarantee there will be chuckles galore in store for this evening of fun!”

Jimmy said the last few months have been extra busy for him - from appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe to starring in a top TV show featuring hit comedian John Bishop.

“Not only have I headlined a summer season show at the Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne, but in August I made an appearance the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and whilst there I participated in BBC 3’s ‘Comedy marathon,” he said.

“Recently I took part in a recording of the comedian John Bishop’s new show for Sky 1 called ‘John Bishop Only Joking’ which will be broadcast next January.

Andy Greaves said he was thrilled Jimmy had found time in his schedule to visit Worksop and the great Acorn Theatre.

“I have appeared there on several occasions in the past, but this will be a special performance for me as I have always admired Jimmy and it will be a pleasure sharing the Acorn’s stage with him” he said.

Tickets for the 7.30pm show on Saturday 27th October are priced £10 and £2.50 for under 16s.
