Nearly four million people across the UK no longer have to shield to protect themselves from the serious side-effects of Covid-19.
Dr Eric Kelly, local GP and chairman of NHS Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group, said residents will receive guidance about how they can reduce their risk of catching Covid-19 and urged those eligible to get the vaccine.

“People on the shielded patient list will receive letters with updated guidance that sets out practical steps which they can follow to reduce their risk of catching COVID-19 which includes continuing to maintain strict social distancing and to keep their overall social contacts at low levels, such as working from home where possible,” he said.
“It’s great news that we can now see Covid rates reduce, however, it is extremely important that we do not let our guard down now.
"We must all continue to follow national guidance in place which is hands, face, space, air, this applies whether you have had the vaccine or not.
"If people plan to meet up with friends or family especially over the upcoming Easter weekend it’s vital that we all remember the rule of six for outdoor gatherings or two households only to mix outdoors and maintain minimum two metre distance.”
