Hotel raises the steaks by put prize local beef top of the menu

The Crown hotel in Bawtry has announced plans for a new partnership with beef farmers Nigel Brownbridge and David McAllum of Bank End Farm in Finningley.

The hotel which has a long-standing policy of sourcing ingredients as locally as possible, were delighted find longhorn cattle being bred just a few miles from the hotel.

As well as the usual à la carte menu in the hotel restaurant, every Friday and Saturday evening the hotel offers a specials menu.

Head chef Caroline Rhodes said: “Our weekly specials have to be exactly that – special. I cannot think of anything better than serving meat from a farm which is just a stone’s throw away from the kitchen at the Crown.

“We paid a visit to the farm to see the cattle and build relations with Nigel and David – this is how we do business at the Crown. Being a farmer’s daughter myself I had no issues getting in the field with the cows and the bull.”

The first longhorn meat— including rump, sirloin and ribeye steaks—will be served August 12-13, with freshly prepared sides and sauces.
