The Crossing’s Autumn concert season starts on Saturday 17th September with Sheffield-based chamber choir the Sterndale Singers.

With around 30 members, the choir comes to Worksop for a concert entitled Memories of France, after their recent tour there.

Formed in 1977, the choir is named after Sheffield born Sir William Sterndale Bennett, past principal of the Royal Academy of Music.

They perform under musical director Robert Webb, who gave up a legal career in favour of music.

A spokesman at the Crossing said: “We have been looking for another good quality mixed voice choir.”

“The Sterndale Singers came highly recommended with a programme of choral music, some acappella, by Vivaldi, Schubert, Faure, Monteverdi, Buxtehude and Morales.”

Show time is 7.30pm, doors 6.45pm. Ticket prices are £9, conc £8, children and students £4 from the Crossing’s welcome desk or phone 01909 475421.
