They’ve toured with major names including Deacon Blue, James Blunt and Smokey Robinson: now the much acclaimed Zervas and Pepper are heading for an acoustic gig at an intimate local venue.
You can see them in action at Letwell Village Hall on Saturday, June 2.
Feted by the music press for their close harmonies and their sweet West Coast sound, Paul Zervas and Kath Pepper have been likened by many to James Taylor and Joni Mitchell.
The duo draw much of their musical inspiration from all conquering band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and have developed a close relationship with the great David Crosby in recent years.
The iconic singer songwriter went so far as to introduce his son James Raymond to the pair when they flew to LA last year to record their latest album Wilderwind.
James Raymond ultimately went into the studio and played guitar and co-produced the tracks, written while Paul and Kath were staying at a remote cabin in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Praise for Zervas and Pepper - who come from Cardiff - has been unstinting.
Broadcaster Stuart Maconie was full of enthusiasm after the duo accompanied the Manic Street Preachers at Hyde Park Live in London. “So sweet are their harmonies,” he said, “you owe it to yourself to check out Zervas and Pepper.”
Rolling Stone magazine, not known for handing out plaudits, said Paul and Kath’s harmonies were “glazed in honey.” David Crosby, meanwhile, said simply: “Zervas and Pepper are excellent - .great songs...fine singing.”
Zervas and Pepper are appearing at Letwell Village Hall on Saturday June 2. Limited tickets are available, priced £12 in advance, from Martyn Sharpe and Andy Swift on 01909 731626 or 540694.
