Michael, who plays adult Simba and Peter Pan’s shadow, has been part of the show for the last eight years.

He spoke to WOW 24/7 ahead of the show’s silver anniversary show, coming to Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena in May.

How did you become involved in the show?

I’ve been skating since I was 12 and started competing then too. Eight years ago I decided I didn’t want to compete any more but still wanted to skate so I sent a video to Disney on Ice and was invited to join the team.

Who do you play in this year’s show?

Over the years, I’ve played so many characters but this year is one of my favourites as I get to play my own favourite character, Simba, and also Peter Pan’s shadow is great to play as it is really challenging, me and Peter Pan have to be completely in time with each other, it takes a lot of practice and concentration.

What can people expect to see at the show?

It’s a special year for Disney on Ice and it certainly shows. This year Mickey and Minnie take us on a journey around the world and we see some of our Disney favourites including characters from Lion King, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid and Frozen.

What do you most enjoy about performing?

Becoming a character to which children can relate. It’s an incredible feeling knowing you are making their dreams a reality.

What’s the best thing about being involved with Disney on Ice?

It’s great to be a part of something like DIsney on Ice. We get to travel around the world while doing something we all love.
