REVIEW: X Factor stars shine as tour comes to Nottingham

The answer was a profound ‘yes’ on Sunday as the X Factor Live Tour rolled into town showcasing the programme’s finest singers.

For sheer talent the 2015 series was one of the best yet and the X Factor may just have unearthed a world class superstar in 18-year-old winner Louisa Johnson.

It was the variety of acts that impressed me, putting on an outstanding spectacle for the 10,000 people packed inside an electric Motorpoint Arena.

The huge crowd was living proof the show remains popular with all ages as there were mums, dads, grans and grandads singing along to the tunes with the screaming children and teenagers.

I was given an instant taste of nostalgia thanks to the energetic Reggie and Bollie, who kicked off the show with Reel 2 Real’s classic nineties hit I Like to Move It.

From that moment I knew it was going to be a fun night as each act seamlessly chopped and changed to put on their polished performances.

You didn’t know where to look at times as the stars popped up at the front and back of the arena, darted up and down the aisles and even came up through the floor.

All eight acts belted out their best performances from the series, but this time with more glittering choreography and dazzling pyrotechnics.

The controversial Mason Noise, best known for storming off stage after a verbal bashing from Simon Cowell, kept things current with a couple of Timberlake and Bieber numbers before impressing with his version of Men In Black.

Flamboyant Aussie Sean Miley Moore seems destined for stardom as his brilliant vocals and fabulous costumes steered away from the pop to give more of a West End flavour.

There was something for everyone, especially the crooners in the crowd who were wowed by the flawless Che Chesterman and the only ‘overs’ act on tour Anton Stephens.

As the show went on more fans rose to their feet as it was clear to all that every acts sounded even better in the flesh.

The highlight of the night was 4th Impact - not usually my cup of tea - but the Filipino girl group proved to be the best performers, wowing the crowd with their renditions of Bang Bang and Christina Aguilera’s Ain’t No Other Man.

Ex-dental receptionist Lauren Murray proved popular as she nailed her versions of You Don’t Own Me and Hold Back the River.

Finally it was a case of saving the best until last as Louisa popped up for a stunning 20-minute performance which included Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, It’s a Man’s World and her own chart single Forever Young.

It was an expected faultless performance from the youngster and was the perfect example of why she won the show. A great night!
