WORLD OF SPORT: Bolt romps to 200m gold, Burgess in World Cup squad, Murray drawn against controversial Aussie

Today’s big stories from the world of sport...

Usain Bolt won the rematch and 200m gold as he ran a wonderful bend to once again leave rival Justin Gatlin chasing silver and fresh air at the World Championships in Beijing.

On a sweaty, sticky night in the Bird’s Nest, Bolt was out of the blocks quicker and opened up an unassailable lead over the first 100m before coming away down the straight and jabbing his thumbs at his chest as he crossed the line. (BBC Sport)

Christine Ohuruogu finished last behind impressive winner Allyson Felix in the final of the 400m at the World Championships in Beijing.

Defending champion Ohuruogu briefly threatened to challenge early leader Felix at the end of the back straight, but she faded rapidly in the final 100m and was passed by the remainder of the field. (Sky Sports)

England have confirmed that Sam Burgess has been selected in their final 31-man squad alongside fellow centre Henry Slade, but there is no place for Danny Cipriani after the Sale Sharks fly-half was one of seven players to be axed. (Independent)

Britain’s Andy Murray has been drawn against controversial Australian Nick Kyrgios in the first round of the US Open, which begins on Monday.

The 28-year-old has played Kyrgios twice in Grand Slams this year, winning in straight sets at both the Australian and French Opens. (BBC Sport)

Leeds Rhinos half-back Danny McGuire says he will never tire of the big stage as he prepares for his 400th appearance.

McGuire is expected to reach his personal landmark in Saturday’s Challenge Cup final against Hull KR. (Sky Sports)
