The race for top spot in the Retford Wheelers Strava League is hotting up, as two senior riders went head to head last week.

Steve Johnson, a new signing to the club, recorded 172.5 miles.

Other riders included G. Allison 148.1, P. Austin 120.9, J. Walker 89.0, S. Hames 67.9, L. Storey 59.3, A. Coop - Mann 57.2, A. Hazard 42.9 and P. Smith 32.1miles.

The club run on Sunday saw both groups meet for refreshment at Messingham Lakes and return via Gainsborough into the teeth of extremely strong and gusty head winds.

This Sunday the ride is to the Lemon Tree at Langwith, a total distance of between 40 and 50 miles depending on which group is chosen.

This is a new destination on the club’s run program.

Both groups are to meet in Retford market square for a 9.30am departure.

Guest riders are welcome.
