That performance brought the third top-six place he’s secured during the current series.

Meanwhile, the club’s Strava League continues to prove popular and competitive.

Other rides of merit were Peter Smith 127.3 miles, Jane Roberts 115.7 miles, Alan Hazard 115.5 miles and Andrew Coop-Mann 109.8 miles.

The club run this Sunday will be a ride with a difference.

There will be a short ride of about 30 to 40 miles around local roads, returning to the Broom Wagon cafe in Retford where the club is to host a social event for members and their families and watch Stage 15 of the Giro d’Italia.

The high mountain stage is expected to provide plenty of entertainment.

The Wheelers club ride will leave Retford market square at 9am.
