VIDEO: Ordsall Bridon get the edge over Worksop

Worksop skipper Tim Smith junior won the toss and opted to give Ordsall Bridon first bat, openers Jamie Alderson and Wayne Spooner taking the score to 29 before Smith took Spooner’s wicket, Daniel McLean taking the catch.

Alderson fell soon afterwards, Smith again the bowler as Liam Cairns this time did the honours in the field, and when Nick Legg and Paul Topham were out in quick succession, Ordsall Bridon were in some trouble at 60-4 - Andrew Stoneman trapping them both lbw.

But Paul van den Heuvel (40) and Roger Wells (57) would steady the ship and move the hosts on to 111 before van den Heuvel was out of the bowling of Ross Wicks.

Wells continued to bat well and saw two more batsmen fall around him on his way to his half century, before he was eighth man out with the score on 207.

Ordsall Bridon eventually closed on 224-9, with Smith and Stoneman claiming two wickets each, Harry Taylor two and Wicks the other - the extras column also proving a problem for Worksop as 39 runs were added to the total.

Worksop scored steadily in reply but didn’t look likely to threaten the target set.

Smith was the main man with the bat, his 33 the highlight, but despite most batsmen getting double figures only McLean really got the bull between the horns as he hit three fours and a six before being out for 24, lbw to Gary Andrews who ended up with four wickets to his name.

Irfan Marofkhail claimed three wickets as Ordsall reduced Worksop to 162-8 before the overs ran out, Harrison Chalkley with the other scalp.
