Trio represent Retford Athletic and Running Club in Nottingham

Retford Athletic and Running Club were represented at Sunday’s Nottingham Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon.

Three local runners joined a field of 8,000 in windy but warm conditions, for the race that takes in the university campuses, Trent Bridge cricket ground and Nottingham Forest Football Club.

The race wound along the river to the finish at Victoria Embankment.

Andrew Kinsley was the first runner to finish for Retford in a time of 1hr 30m and 37 secs, in 281th place.

He was followed closely by David Corbett with a time of 1hr 33m and 08 secs (384th place).

Rounding off for Retford was Jacqui Ferris who ran well and recorded a personal best time of 2hr and 50 secs, knocking five minutes off her previous half marathon personal best.

Other notable recent performances by club members include Charmian Heaton, Erika Silva Tasker, Steve Wathall and Dave Pickering who all completed the tough but picturesque Lake District RAB two-day Mountain Marathon at the weekend.

Max Howard completed the English Fell Championship Edale Skyline on Sunday, and Tammy Haywood finished the Ladybower ultra 35 mile off road marathon.

Attention for many club members now turns to the Worksop Half Marathon on 27th October.

Retford Athletic and Running Club have also just opened up registration for the 2014 Retford Half Marathon and Family Fun Run which will take place on Sunday 9th March.

The race will start and finish at a new base of Retford Oaks Academy on Babworth Road.
