Trio compete for the Aegir Club’s WM Stones Trophy

This is the longest event that the club promotes and it includes three ascents of Thonock Hill.

All competitors rode consistently well over the three laps, however Jordan Skelly was always in command.

After a superb top 10 finish in a 10k run at Woodhall Spa on Sunday, Skelly made a smooth transition back to the bike, taking victory from Julian Hesp.

After two laps times were taken and went towards the 18-mile league table.

Hesp and Skelly achieved personal bests for both distances .

Trevor Halstead produced one of his better performances and will be looking forward to long distance summer events.

27 and 18 mile results: 1st Jordan Skelly Skelly 1:07:59, 45:01; 2nd Julian Hesp 1:11:20, 47:03; 3rd Trevor Halstead 1:23:54, 55:58.

9 mile results: 1st Joe Nash 23:53, 2nd Arron Watson 29:22.

The club’s next event on 19th June is specifically for newcomers to time trial.

Anyone is welcome to ride the event or watch and chat to existing club members.

The only entrance criteria being a roadworthy bike, with mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes all suitable.

Juniors are welcome provided they are over 12 years of age and bring a signed parental consent form - available from Church Street Cycles.

The course is eight miles long and takes place on quiet lanes to the north of Gainsborough.

Meet on Laughton Lane approximately one and a half miles from the junction at Morton from 6.30pm to start at 7pm.

Sunday saw club members Paul Reynolds, Trevor Halstead, Daniel Nicholson and Dave Day supporting the RTTC 25 mile National Championship time trials near Tattershall.

On Saturday riders took part in Ginsborough’s Riverside Festival.

Trevor Halstead joined Bygone Bikes in the parade, and Colin Smith had a information stand alongside Bygone bikes.
