The weekend started positively for Team Hill, as the rider got into his stride straight away on Saturday morning in qualifying.

Snetterton was the only track Hill had raced theCrossroads Garage Yamaha R6 on before, and his aim was top five.

But an early crash ended Hill’s hopes of a front row start before he had the chance to put a fast lap in.

This placed him 22nd on the grid for Saturday’s two races and after the team got the bike prepared, Hill worked his way up the grid to finish 11th.

In race two, he raced into the top 10 but the rear tyre tearing up saw him down in 12th at the finish.

A new set-up saw him place fisrt in the warm-up session, and in race one he was battling for a top seven place with three laps to go, when the bike encountered problems.

He said: “The bike wouldn’t change down the gear box and wouldn’t select gears which made the last few laps difficult.”

“I managed to carry the bike round into 12th place but this doesn’t reflect our efforts this weekend as I belive we really deserved a podium.”

In race two, a fired up Hill battled all the way to the finish, crossing the line in sixth.

Team Hill now move on to Cadwell Park.
