The search to find Bassetlaw’s sporting heroes and future superstars is almost over, as the 18th annual Bassetlaw Sports Awards ceremony draws ever nearer.

Only a few days remain to nominate those who have achieved, or sacrificed, in the name of sport during the past year.

This year’s sporting celebrity for the awards bash has been announced as a Paralympic and World Championship gold medal winner.

Sophie Wells MBE will be in attendance on Friday 5th December at Worksop College, to give an inspirational speech and to present the category winners with their trophies.

Wells is part of the Great Britain World and European Dressage Team.

Tony Wright, from Bassetlaw Council’s Sports Development Team, organisers of the event, said: “Every year we hear people say how they wished they had nominated someone.”

“Comments we receive from people who do attend our Sports Awards ceremony are always about how much they enjoy being part of the occasion.”

“Don’t miss out this year, if you know of a worthy nomination please send one to us. ”

The deadline for nominations is Monday 3rd November 2014 and the winners will be announced at a ceremony, hosted by sponsors Worksop College, on Friday 5th December 2014.

The Worksop Guardian, one of the event sponsors, will be in attendance providing full coverage, with a special supplement planned for Friday 12th December’s paper.
