Tait to learn extent of ankle injury

Sheffield Steelers will learn the results of a second MRI scan on the injured ankle of forward Ashley Tait in the next 24 hours.

Tait injured ankle ligaments in the Steelers last home game against Belfast on 5th February and is unlikely to figure in Friday’s game at home to Giants regardless of the results.

“The problem is that the swelling has been hiding some of the areas that the doctors need to look at,” he said.

“We hope this latest scan will reveal that there isn’t any damage to the bone. If the bone is OK I could be back within a week or two.”

“If it’s bad news and the bone is effected it would probably require an operation that would see me out for the season.”
