Swimmers out in force

Retford swimmers were out in force over the weekend, with four Open Meets taking place.

Owen Roberts, Caragh Chambers-Hey, Daisy Cookson, Charlotte Petley, Leah Smith and Samuel Templeton headed to Ponds Forge for the Derventio Excel 7th long course Open Meet.

This is a Meet that always attracts many swimming superstars and this weekend was no exception with Liam Tancock, Fran Halsall and Ellie Faulkner in attendance.

It was also a weekend of mixed fortunes for the swimmers with only a handful of personal best times and top 10 finishes.

There was a silver medal for 12-year-old Samuel Templeton in the 200m IM.

Ellen Dudley came home from the City of Coventry long course Open Meet with a clutch of PBs and medals including a gold in the 12 yrs 50m Freestyle, silver in the 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and a bronze in the 50m Breaststroke.

Oliver Taylor travelled to Leeds for the SportsAid Unison Open Meet at the John Charles Aquatic Centre.

He recorded two PBsfor the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke.

Ten Swimmers travelled to Hucknall for the Arnold and Mansfield Acorn Meet.

It was a very successful meet for the club with swimmers bringing home 24 medals from 28 races.

Tom Atkinson claimed four golds in the 200m and 400m IM and 100m and 200m Butterfly.

Samuel Templeton won five golds in the 200m and 400m Freestyle, 200m IM, and the 100m and 200m Breaststroke, and a bronze in the 100m Freestyle.

Callum Kettlewell achieved gold in the 200m Butterfly and bronze in the 200m Backstroke.

Charlotte Petley took bronze in the 400m Freestyle, Dan Atkinson two silvers in the 200m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly and a bronze in the 200m Freestyle and Harrison Hall bronze in the 100m Breaststroke.

Alice Richards, Cole Hewitt, Leah Smith and Georgiana Templeton all had personal best times in at least one of their entered events.
