Swift recovery for Anston cycle star Ben

With the operation behind him, and weeks of rehabilitation work on the turbo bike indoors, Swift and his team-mates are already looking ahead to the 2013 season.

He said: “Although the season’s not long over, I’m already looking forward to heading out to Team Sky’s winter training camp in Majorca and meeting up with everyone again.”

“Resting and recovering sounds alright in principal, but I hate not being able to do anything and I’m probably driving my girlfriend Lizzie mad in the process.”

Swift is particularly looking forward to an event that has been kind to him in the past.

“I’m hoping to ride the Tour Down Under next January so everything will be geared towards that.”

“I love riding in Australia, I’ve had some of my best results there, and it’ll be nice if I can start the new year off again on a high.”
