Steelers look to bounce back from Giant defeats

Sheffield Steelers hope to bounce back from two disappointing defeats to runaway leaders Belfast Giants, when they face Nottingham and Coventry this weekend.

Doug Christiansen’s men, although not mathematically out of the title race, saw any realistic hope of catching Belfast vanish, with 4-2 and 4-3 defeats on Saturday and Sunday in Northern Ireland.

The Giants, Christiansen’s former employers, are now 19 points clear of second placed Sheffield.

Steelers travel to Nottingham on Saturday night to take on rivals the Panthers, before hosting Coventry Blaze on Sunday (5pm) at the Motorpoint Arena.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, forward Jeff Legue said: “I think both teams are very well matched.”
