South African is Worksop’s star in a winning draw

Worksop’s South African star Bernhard Beukman came to the fore on Saturday, as they secured a winning draw at home to North Wheatley with Leverton.

He was the foundation of Worksop’s innings of 216 for 8, carrying his bat for 101 runs.

And when North Wheatley with Leverton looked to be closing in on Worksop’s total, Beukman took 4 for 28 with the ball.

Dave Hancocks also had 3 for 71, the visitors restricted to 201 for 9.

Also in Championship action, Anston beat Notts and Arnold Amateur with a real team batting display – five players scoring 40 or more runs.

Kiveton Park were beaten by seven wickets by promotion hopefuls Clipstone.

Clumber Park lost their Division One local derby with Whitwell by six wickets.

Alan Draycott starred for Whitwell with 86 unbeaten runs.

Firbeck suffered a five wicket defeat at Everton, despite Adam Dutton’s 52 not out.

In Division Three, Woodsetts lost to Bawtry by three wickets.

Worksop II were three wicket winners over Anston III in Division Four, Richard Snowden taking 4 for 24.

And Clumber Park II lost to Marshalls by four wickets, despite Jim Delaney’s 69 runs and Andy Smith taking 3 for 74.

Rockware won their game against Todwick in Division Six by give wickets, bowling duo Ryan Wesley (3 for 45) and Andrew Bell (3 for 8) starring for the visitors.

Alan Mosley of Woodsetts III carried his bat for 102 against Notts and Arnold.
