Firbeck picked up their first Bassetlaw Division One win of the season at Costhorpe on Saturday, against local rivals Whitwell.
On a green, wet early season wicket Firbeck batted first and did not score the runs they wanted to.
The hosts felt they had fallen around 20 short when they were bowled out for 143.
Adam Walker (36), Liam Somers (34) and Adam Walker (36) contributed the lion’s share of the runs, with James Hubball adding 19 before a bottom order collapse.
For Whitwell, overseas import Lachlan Barrett did the most damage with 4-25, supported by Greg Searston who took 3-33.
Whitwell’s innings followed a similar pattern to the home side’s.
Australian Barrett got right into the thick of it again with 49 runs.
But Man of the Match Somers (5-11) sealed victory for his side, taking a five-wicket haul and capping a fine all-round performance as Whitwell fell 13 runs short of the required total.
The full 20 points went to hosts Firbeck, while Whitwell had to be content with six points.
Firbeck travel to Everton this Saturday, and Whitwell are scheduled to be at home to Caythorpe II.
