SJR Development suffer county cup disappointment

SJR Women were knocked out of the county cup 4-3 on penalties by Brinsworth.
Brinsworth opened the scoring early on after a sloppy defensive moment before SJR hit back quickly. In the 16th minute, Shannon Brookes produced something special — a 30-yard lob that sailed over the keeper and dropped perfectly into the net.
Just before the half-hour mark, Millie Goode put Worksop ahead after a powerful run down the wing and a composed solo finish to make it 2–1. Brinsworth responded again on the counter to level things up.
In the second half Worksop continued to dominate the ball and push the tempo, spending long spells camped in their half. SJR pressure told around the 70th minute, when Imogen Bownes curled a brilliant finish around the keeper to put them 3–2 up.
But once again, Brinsworth punished another sloppy moment on the break to bring it back to 3–3. With the score level at full-time, the game went to penalties, where Brinsworth edged it.
Despite conceding three, goalkeeper Lily Cooper was outstanding throughout and fully deserved Player of the Match — pulling off key saves, commanding her area, and keeping SJR in the game at crucial moments.
