Shane’s in his country team again

FOR the third consecutive year Worksop grandfather Shane Robinson has been selected for the England senior pool squad.

The qualification guarantees him a place in the national team for the World Championships in June at Blackpool, and the European Championships next February in the same location.

He told the Guardian: “The qualifiers were great but it was a very long day, from 9am to midnight at Great Yarmouth.”

Robinson won his first four matches, only ever dropping one frame, and then lost two on the bounce before recovering to record another four victories in a row.

“It’s nice to get into the team again,” he said.

“It was a long hard slog but I’ve qualified for the squad of 12.”
