Runners romp to Round Rotherham relay record

CLOWNE Road Runners clinched an incredible double achievement at the Round Rotherham, with victory in the team relay and a new record.

The team finished the 50-mile relay in a time of 5 hours 12 minutes, smashing a record that had stood since 1998, taking seven minutes off that time.

John Proffitt told the Guardian: “What a great team effort to win this ever popular event, with runners coming from all parts of the country, some from overseas. Everyone gave 100 per cent.”

“It was a great achievement for the club. Thanks to the team, who did the club proud.”
