A lack of meaningful chances or action in the first half meant for little talking points with the Tigers struggling to keep hold of the ball for prolonged periods.

The young Blades outfit were intent on playing from the back and as the Worksop forward men pushed against the full backs a lively Sheffield United midfield were picking up the ball in key pockets of space.

The goal the game needed came on the stroke of half-time but was from the visitors, a misplaced pass in midfield led to David Parkhouse running in on goal and slotting away over keeper Dave Reay.

The second half began with much needed intensity from the home side and Connor Brunt was felled in the box soon after the restart.

The striker then picked his self up to blast his spot kick to the right of the keeper to equalise.

The substitutes followed for both sides but didn’t effect the tempo.

Sheffield United side were impressive in protecting the ball for long periods, but after winning the ball deep in his half, striker Lewis Francis went on to deliver a superb chipped assist to Will Wraith who tapped past the keeper to put the home side ahead.

Sub Kyle Jordan could have had a goal of his own after rounding the keeper but his adversary recovered well.

United could have had an equaliser but keeper Dave Reay made a string of impressive stops to keep the score line at 2-1 and give the Tigers victory.
