New Retford United owner shows off new facilites at open event

Retford United Football Club held their first event on Sunday since Nik Springthorpe from One Call Insurance took ownership, a day which was also used to reveal the newly renovated clubhouse, now renamed the 2018 Lounge.

Over 180 people from Retford and the surrounding areas attended to show their backing for RUFC, with many offering to volunteer for future events and during the up and coming season.

Chairman Springthorpe said: “The day really could not have gone any better, the sun was shining, everyone had a great time and England beat Panama 6-1 creating a real buzz with the crowd.

“I am happy to say we received an abundance of positive feedback throughout the day.

“There was an overwhelming amount of support shown and I could not be happier to lead this club to victory with the help of the fantastic local community.”

Alongside showing the football on the 2018 Lounge’s huge television screens and projector, the club also supplied complimentary food, bouncy castles, and free transport to and from Cannon Square for the entirety of the afternoon.

The One Call Insurance Girls hosted a raffle with all ticket proceeds going towards the investment of the club.
