It’s onwards and upwards for Retford and District Wheelers’ cyclo-cross specialists, who are all improving as the ‘cross’ season gets into full swing

North Leverton’s Jane Roberts snatched first place in the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross League ladies event at Graves Park in Sheffield last week.

Fellow Wheeler Christopher Hilbert was also victorious, coming home first in the Under 12s contest.

Steven Hilbert improved his finish to second place in the Veterans 50 years plus event, with clubmate Glen Allison followingclose behind in sixth position.

These four riders have been consistently finishing in the top positions all season, but last week’s results have been the highlight of their cross campaign so far in Wheelers colours.

The Retford Wheelers club run this Sunday is to Sudbrooke in Lincolnshire.

The distance covered will be about 65 miles over a fairly flat route.

Riders should meet in Retford market square at the usual time of 9am.
