Retford runner just outside top 10

Retford Athletics Club’s Benjamin Harris finished just outside the top 10, in the Clowne Half Marathon.

The race went ahead without a hitch on Sunday, as Sheffield RC runner Meles Okbazghi qualified for the London Marathon with a win.

He finished in 1:11:51, well inside the 1:15:00 qualifying limit for the London race.

Retford’s Harris was 11th in 1:18:56.

There were over 600 finishers of the half marathon, which had just one wheelchair entry – Mansfield’s Richard Cheshire.

Ex-Great Britain runner Jenny Blizard, a Rotherham Harrier, finished in 36th place.

There were also two blind runners, Christopher Blackabee and Severine Renard.

Runners’ donations to the chosen charity, Ashgate Hospice, totalled over £250.
