Not even the young driver himself would have predicted the emotional scenes that accompanied a podium finish to the season.

A back row grid start in heat one left Taylor with a little too much to do to make up many places and he had to settle with a 10th place.

However the second set of heats saw him draw a front row place from where he was able to make a superb start and go into the first corner with a car’s length to spare.

He then successfully drove a very smart defensive race keeping the inform Aiden Hills at bay to notch up his first heat win of the year and a very well deserved third for the overall heat.

Another great drive in the third set of heats gained him another third place overall.

All his hard work was rewarded with fifth place on the grid for the conveted A-Final.

He was in second place after smartly avoiding two cars coming together in front of him and at that point the race was red flagged.

On the restart Taylor found clear space in front of him at the line and headed into the first corner in third place which he hung onto right until the chequered flag to claim his first senior podium and a provisional sixth

place finish in the championship.

The Bassetlaw driver said: “I just needed to continue to drive as I did all day for the A Final.

“I got off to a brilliant start battling with Nathan, he had the better of me on the first corner. I managed to hold onto my third place spot but again being chased down.

“I wasn’t going to give up my position that easily.

“Teary eyed coming back to the paddock, I knew I had done the team and my family proud.

“It’s been one heck of a journey and thank you everyone for being a part of it.”
