Rare defeat for Trent Valley duo

TRENT Valley Road Club’s Andy Lewin suffered a rare defeat, alongside partner Ian Ferraby, in the 17-mile 2up team time trial last Thursday.

The duo finished 24 seconds down on winners Shaun Pycroft and Paul Brownless.

Full results: Pycroft and Brownless 41, Lewin and Ferraby 41.24, Cliff Lee and Rob Brooks 47.55, Jordan Skelly (Gainsborough Aegir C.C) riding solo 44.38.

On Saturday four riders from the club took part in a charity 10-mile time trial on the B1398 Ingham, Harpswell Hill roundabout, Cammeringham course.

Sixty riders took part and conditions were good.

The winner, in a time that boke the course record, was James Coleman (Whitham Wheelers) in 20.22.

Trent Valley results: Andy Lewin 23.48, Shaun Pycroft 25.07, Ian Ferraby 25.40,and Mike Overton 28.48.

Meanwhile,on the same day in Nott the club’s Mark Marsland was becoming the first Trent Valley rider to go under the hour for 25 miles, when he hit top form in North Notts Olympic 25-mile trial on the A1 between Carlton-on-Trent and Long Bennington, riding a 98” fixed gear to come home in a superb 57.40.
