Worksop shoppers in 1900s

It dates from the 1900s and shows the Queen’s Head pub on the right. The proprietor was Albert Selby.

Also on the right is the name T. Selby which was a cycling business.

On the left is an advert for Bradleys boot and shoemaker.

As we can see from the cars and bikes, this was long before the days of Bridge Street being pedestrianised.

A lot of people appear to be walking in the road however, which is an indication of how little traffic there was back then.

Bridge Street remains Worksop’s premier shopping road, particularly now with the market being placed along it.
