Black ice stops race

DUE to black ice on parts of the road the Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club’s Christmas Nine (a nine-mile race) was cancelled.

Instead, after exchanging Christmas greetings with Lincoln Wheelers and Trent Valley RC riders, Paul Reynolds, Trevor Halstead, Daniel Nicholson, Colin Smith and Mark Clark enjoyed a 12-mile ride through Corringham, Springthorpe, Heapham and Upton, returning to Gainsborough along Heapham Road and finishing at the Peacock Pub on Corringham Road for their Christmas lunch.

Events over the festive season: Christmas Day morning ride - meet at Roseway, Gainsborough, 10am; Boxing Day morning ride - meet at Roseway, 10am; New Year’s Day, leisure ride to Edwinstowe with lunch at The Major Oak Visitors Centre - meet at Roseway, 8.50am. 　For information contact Trevor Halstead at Church Street Cycles, 102-104 Church Street, Gainsborough, tel 01427 617752 or home 01427 677396.
