KurtIS’ perfect present

A DINNINGTON dad was given the perfect birthday present when his son recovered from a fall during a motocross race to take second place overall at an event in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Young Kurtis Williams was racing in the Dave George Two Day Memorial motocross event, organised by the Coventry MX Club.

On day one Kurtis, along with fellow local riders Daniel and Luke Fisher, battled through thick mud and wet conditions, and on the second day found success on a hard, bumpy track.

Kurtis, 16, fell from his 250cc Honda CRF in the third and final race, but despite being in last place he rode brilliantly to catch his rivals and finish third, taking second overall for the event.

Delighted mum Jane told the Guardian: “He had two very proud parents, especially Russell as it was his birthday, and he couldn’t have asked for more.”

Daniel, 10, brought his 65cc KTM home in ninth place overall, while brother Luke, 14, who has only been racing since September 2011, finished 11th on his 150cc Honda.

Jane added: “Luke is improving week by week.”

“It was a weekend to remember.”

The event was the first memorial meeting for Dave George, a long standing member of the Coventry MX Club, and included stalls, an auction, marquis and a disco.
