A Thurcroft gym played host to the Yorkshire’s Strongest Man competition on Sunday .
The Under 105kg category competition was held at Hulk’s Strongman Division at Atlas Fitness.
Despite the overcast conditions, the day was well attended with many children there to support their dads on Father’s Day.
The event hosted the first official meeting of the two Phillips brothers in competition.
Though the leaderboard remained tight throughout the day it was younger brother Ross who retained his Yorkshire’s Strongest Man under 105kg title.
Owner and pioneer of Hulk’s, Mark Anglesea, was delighted that three club regulars placed in the top 10, with Ian Phillips seventh and Colin Price joining Ross in the top three.
A particular crowd-pleasing highlight of the day was the keg toss.
This action-packed explosive power spectacle drew the crowds.
And along with other favourites such as the Van Lift and Giant Hulk Log, the world famous Atlas Stones provided the day’s finale.
The strain of the giant endurance medley proved too challenging for some, although other competitors showed true brute strength by happily jogging with the stones held aloft on their shoulders.
The England’s Elite Strongman final will be held on Sunday 20th July at the Thurcroft venue.
