A highly anticipated top of the table clash between Breakers X and Welbeck A went the way of the X-men, on a night of high quality Worksop Division One snooker.

It began with Guy Dennis breaking off against Simon Broughton.

Broughton played well against arguably the league’s best player and with just the colours remaining appeared favourite.

However, the Welbeck victory was denied by a clearance from green to black by Dennis to give the X-men the first point.

David Wheat played Ricky Wyld and Wheat’s long potting was the difference, and by the time the frame had moved on to the colours he got his nose in front and remained there.

The third frame saw Paul Milverton take apart Richard Hill with clinical potting and tight safety play.

With the match 3-0 in the X-men’s favour and their in-form captain on last it looked promising.

Craig Frost set about reigning in Tony Shaw in this vital frame - the winner of which would top the table.

With a single red on Frost was infront and playing fantastic snooker.

However Shaw dug deep with two snookers and went on to snatch the last frame.

A 3-1 victory for the X-men left the Welbeck team somewhat relieved to be going home still top of the table - just.
