Lee Westwood failed to make it out of the first round at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona on Wednesday.
The Worksop golfer, who now calls Florida home, was well beaten 5&3 by Harris English.
English raced into a four hole lead by the turn, as five up after 11 and it was all over after the 15th.
Westwood came into the tournament on the back of a 20th place finish at the Northern Trust Open in California last weekend.
Grouped with Retief Goosen and Ken Duke, Westwood shot a two under par round of 69 to open.
He carded three birdies and two bogies in Friday’s round of 70, then moved up the leaderboard on Saturday with a bogey-free 68.
That was as good as it got for the Worksop Golf Club product, as he finished with a 71, and a share of 20th place.
Next week Westwood plays at the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens in his home state.
