Worksop Harriers enjoy marathon success

Worksop Harriers’ Teresa McPake was crowned County Marathon Champion after running a stunning personal best 3:08:45 at the Robin Hood marathon.

She also won her over 35’s age category in a performance that was so good, only 73 men out of a field of more than 1,200 runners finished the race ahead of her.

While still a relative novice at marathon running Teresa now takes the confidence and experience gained forward to the London Marathon, which she had previously qualified for as ‘good for age’ but now has gained a ‘Championship’ standard.

Not to be out done, Colin Laughton (85th, 3:12:20), the Harriers only other competitor in the marathon, also recorded a personal best time and finished in the medals, winning a bronze in the over 40’s age group.

The Harriers runners in the Nottingham half marathon also had a successful day with both Sarah Worely (1:33) and Charolotte Hewitt (1:49) both setting personal best performances.

As the year quickly turns the Harriers first cross-country of the season got under way at Sutton-in-Ashfield, where the club as a whole finished in fifth place.
