LEE Westwood won through to the next stage of the Fed-Ex Cup in America at the weekend, with his share of fifth place in the Barclays Championship in New York.
With the top 100 going through to next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston in Massachusetts, Westwood now lies in 27th place, up 24 places after the tournament at Bethpage Park.
An opening round of 69 including four birdies and two bogies was followed by a 72, which comprised of an eagle at the fourth hole, two birdies and five bogies.
He fought his way back into contention on Saturday with an excellent 68 with only one dropped shot, at the fourth, as he moved into 10th place.
With three birdies and three bogies on his card going into the final hole the Worksop man managed a fourth birdie to give him a 70 for a total of 279, five under par and a share of fifth.
