Lee Westwood’s weekend in Arizona was cut short, when he missed the cut in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Grouped with Brandt Snedeker and Harris English, at TPC Scottsdale, Westwood got off to a great start last Thursday.
A birdie at the first was followed by shots picked up at the fourth, sixth, 13th, 15th and 17th.
Bogeys at the third and eighth left him tied for 18th in a great position, four under par and just three shots off the pace.
But a second round of 74, four over, dropped him back to even par for the tournament and with the cut set at one under, his competition was over.
He’s next in action at the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club, Pacific Palisades in California, from 13th February.
Fellow Worksop Golf Club export Mark Foster was also unable to reach the weekend’s play, as he took part in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
Foster shot two rounds of 72, level par.
It was the third time in four outings that he missed the cut.
