A ROUND of 70 left Lee Westwood five under par at the halfway point of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic this morning.
On the front nine he picked up birdies at the second and eighth, but dropped a shot at the sixth and ninth holes.
Birdies at 10 and 18 were enough to leave him two under for the round.
In round one he shot a 69, three under par.
The current leader is South Africa’s Thomas Aiken, in the clubhouse at 10 under, while Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy has just begun his round and is eight under after picking up a shot at the first.
Westwood’s rival for the world number one spot, Martin Kaymer, is a shot behind Westwood after round two, while Tiger Woods is seven under thanks to his round of 66 today.
