Lee Westwood began his 2015 season in style in Dubai on Thursday.

Fresh from saving a drowning tourist while on holiday in Barbados, the Worksop golfer shot a bogey-free seven under par round of 65 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic to share the clubhouse lead.

The 41-year-old has been enjoying this tournament since 1993 when he turned professiona and has only missed it twice, in 2002 and last year.

And while he might not have won it, yet, Westwood has a habit of coming close.

His best finishes in this event were second place in 1999, 2010 and 2012.

Westwood teed off on Thursday alongside Sergio Garcia and Gary Stal.

Fellow Worksop export Mark Foster will play withPeter Uihlein and Graeme Storm.

Foster finished tied for 52nd at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters last weekend.
