Two horse race for the Division Two title

The Division Two title battle is a two horse race between Stanley Street B and DTH Redlands Joggers, after Manton Tigers lost twice in a week.

The Tigers ‘first defeat was against Ryton Park Eagles, despite Paul Allison registering a hat-trick.

For the Eagles John Hallgarth, Alex Olliffe and Keith Swift all beat Dave Bowns and Phil Hall with Olliffe and Hallgarth taking the doubles.

Against Global Marble B, Steve Beeston and Bill Bateman came in, but couldn’t stop another 7-3 defeat.

Rob Vaughan took three Tigers scalps with Dilip Malkan adding a further two and Richard Robinson one.

Vaughan and Malkan then won doubles.

Both DTH Redlands Joggers and Stanley Street B ironically enjoyed 7-3 victories against the bottom two.

The Joggers defeated X-Youth with Lea Dickinson taking another hat-trick, and Matthew Mudd and Lewis Comley winning two each.

Clive Eden beat Mudd and Comley and then added the doubles with Mark Bloomer.

Stanley Street B kept their six point lead, beating Manton Sports, although Kyle McIntosh lost to both Alan Wilson and Keith Smith.

Wilson also beat Matthew Williams but Paul Linfield beat all three Sports players and with Williams also beating Smith and Fisher, Street ran out winners.

Division One title holders DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys lost their 100 per cent record this week against Global Marble A.

Toys turned up with only two players so before a ball was hit Marble were 3-0 up.

Despite the deficit the Toys duo Steve Walker and Steve Fox did enough to come away with a point, while Global’s Steve Lyons beat Walker and Adrian Baldi beat Fox.
