Sheffield Steelers had their best weekend for some time, with two victories on the trot.
The Elite League ice hockey outfit first squeezed past Coventry Blaze 2-1 at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday night, before hammering the Cardiff Devils away from home on Sunday, 6-0.
In the first outing, with new netminder Josh Unice making his first start in place of the injured Frank Doyle, Steelers went a goal behind early on to Jereme Tendler’s effort.
But Cullen Eddy slapped home from the point at 16:21 and with only three seconds left in the game, Jeff Legue was the hero with the winner.
On Sunday new winger Tomas Petruska got off the mark from a rebound at 8:38, before Mike Forney and Tyler Mosienko made it 3-0.
Forney’s second gave Steelers a cushion, and then two lovely goals from Mosikeno and Legue completed the agony for Devils, who have been in fine form in their intimdating home rink.
Steelers host Dundee at 7pm on Saturday, and visit Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday.
